BYRAM — Registration for Bruins Rugby is open now through May 31. The season runs from June 7 to July 21. Located in Byram and Stanhope, Bruins Rugby is a co-ed, non-contact form of rugby using velcro flags. Over the course of the season, players will develop and use the skills of running, kicking, passing, space strategy and self-confidence. Bruins Rugby is played under the auspices of American Flag Rugby, an organization dedicated to introducing young players, kindergarten through ninth-grade, to the game of rugby with an emphasis on enjoyment and sportsmanship. The Bruins play in four different age groups. Each group will be introduced to more aspects of the game as the players progress and no experience is necessary. The Bruins are sponsored by the Morris Rugby Corporation. The matches are made up of two ten-minute halves. Bruins Rugby is also looking for sponsorships from local businesses.
