    Ashenfelter 8K Classic Wantage’s Jeffrey Faherty led a pack of 16 local residents in the 27th Annual Ashenfelter 8K Classic contested in Glen Ridge on Turkey Day. The 18-year-old crossed the line 52nd in the field of 889 runners, posting a clocking of 30:36. The event is named after Horace Ashenfelter, a Glen Ridge resident, who captured the gold medal in the 3000-meter steeplehchase at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. Sparta’s 56-year-old Bill Bosman picked up the runnerup award in the men’s 55 to 59 age bracket with a time of 30:58. Lake Hopatcong’s 41-year-old Julie Amsallen was the first local woman to cross the line, placing 21st among the 333 females in the event with a clocking of 35:24. Local finishers 59.
