Summer fencing program open
West Milford Parks and Recreation will be sponsoring beginner and intermediate level instruction in fencing this summer, for students in grades 7 to 12 and adults. This program is designed to provide fencers with the opportunity to learn and to improve basic fencing skills. Experienced instructors will provide guidance in fundamental areas such as agility training, overall conditioning, footwork skills/drills and blade work. The program will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, beginning June 26 and continuing through August 9. The program will be held at the high school cafeteria from 6 to 8 p.m. The total cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents. All participants must provide their own equipment: mask, sword, glove, plastron and jacket. If you are a beginner level fencer, call the Recreation Department before purchasing any equipment. Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation Office located in Hillcrest Community Center.
