Sussex Stags stomp the Plattsburgh NorthStars









AUGUSTA — The Sussex Stags (Sussex County) defeated the Plattsburgh Northstars (New York) in semi-pro football on Saturday, Aug. 8. The final score was 27-6.
The game was played at Skylands Stadium in Augusta.
Saturdays game was Youth Football Night. Football players from the Newton Youth Football League and other area teams and their families, came out and helped cheer on the semi pro players.
The Stags put away the Northstars, the defending Empire Football League champions. They earned it with a strong defense as usual. And the offense finally showed some signs of life after being quite up until this point in the season. The victory is the Stags fourth straight.
At the half way point in the season Sussex improves their record to 4 to 1. The Sussex Stags are tied for first place with the Watertown Red and Black of New York. Sussex lost to Watertown in the season opener. But the Stags will get a chance for some payback on Aug. 15 when they meet again in Watertown, N.Y.
Team records: Sussex 4-1.
Plattsburgh 3-2.
