Newton 94, Wallkill/Tech 76 Amanda Letchko won two events and swam legs on two victorious relay quartets as Newton defeated the combined Wallkill Valley/Sussex Tech squad 94-76 in a SCIL girls’ swimming meet. Letchko was fastest to the finish wall in the 100-meter butterfly (1:12.51) and 200-meter freestyle (2:29.4) while swimming on the 200-meter medley and 400-meter freestyle relay quartets. PJ 111, Sparta 59 Pope John swept the swimming meets with Sparta at Sussex Tech, posting a 111-59 victory in the boys’ division and a 103-67 win in the girls’ competition. Kittatinny 94, Blair 74 In a non-league swimming meet, the Lady Cougars 200 freestyle quartet of Carrie Lageca, Emily Wood, Briana Nader and Michelle Welles posted the winning clocking of 2:01.15 while Welles was fastest to the finish wall in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:27.81. Erica Campell won the 100 butterfly in 1:14.00 while Caitlin Hennessey won the 100 backstroke in 1:17.21.
