Two opportunities to play golf and help a local cause
2006 West Milford Wolverines The West Milford Wolverines 12U/11U Baseball Club has announced that they will hold their second annual fundraiser golf outing on Friday, August 25, at Black Bear Golf Club in Franklin NJ, starting at 1 p.m. Activities will include awards for closest to the pin, low net, low gross, most honest golfer and longest drive. There will also be door prizes, 50/50 raffles, a silent sports memorabilia auction and a buffet dinner. Wildfire, led by West Milford resident Dave Griffiths on guitar/vocals will perform. Golfers, dinner only attendees, prize donations, and hole sponsors are welcome. Proceeds from this outing will fund the tournaments/leagues/training for the Wolverines’ 2007 baseball season. Friends of Long Pond Ironworks The Friends of Long Pond Ironworks, Inc. seek golfers willing to swing a club for historic preservation and prizes. On Monday, September 18, the friends will sponsor a golf outing and luncheon at Hickory Hill Golf Course, 156 Route 17A, in Warwick, New York. The event will open at 8 a.m. with golfer registration and a complimentary continental breakfast. The shotgun start is at 9 a.m. Hole in one, longest drive, closest to the pin, and other prizes will be awarded at a 1:30 p.m. buffet luncheon. Those who register before August 7 will be entered in a special drawing to win a golf prize. The fees are $100 per golfer or $400 for each foursome. The Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the golf outing will go toward preservation of the historic blast furnaces, ironworkers’ homes, and other structures. Long Pond Ironworks is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places and is part of a National Historical Landmark district with Ringwood Manor in Ringwood, NJ. Those who do not play golf but would like to attend the 1:30 luncheon can do so for a lunch only cost of $30.
