Vernon High School results

Ashley Lagas and Gretchen Hughes teamed up to lead Vernon to a 124-132 win over Hopatcong in a SCIL girls golf matcg contested at the Farmstead Golf and Country Club. Lagos carded a nine-hole round of 59 while Hughes toured the course in 65 strokes as Vernon improved to 4-4. Jena Bidoglio and Kayla Mercerino turned in hat trick efforts as Vernon rallied to defeat Glen Ridge 13-10 in a girls' lacrosse match. The win was the 15th in 17 outings for the Lady Vikings as Hilary Barrett and Jess Hegner tallied two goals apiece. Linda Bohn, Sillie Karlsen and Andrea Schweitzer added solo goals while starting goalie Kelly Duggan stopped three shots before giving way to Allie DeCasare who came up with seven saves. Vernon edged Kittatinny 8-7 in eight innings when Jerrica Lavooy scored in an RBI single by Megan Reda. Reda singled and doubled, with the two-bagger knocking in three runs to fuel the Vikings' six-run outburst in the bottom of the first. Tricia Carrabba scattered six hits, fanned two and walked one as she picked up her fifth "W" against a dozen setbacks.
