Vernon ran its record to 3-0 in the SCIL last Friday afternoon with a tight, 7-6 victory over Jefferson at Vernon. All the scoring in the game took place in the second quarter, with the Vikings scoring first to go up 7-0 on the strength of a Zach VonderLinden touchdown run and an extra point kicked by Richard Fox. Jefferson scored a touchdown late in the second half, but went for a two-point conversion and failed. They had another chance to take the lead in the second half on a field goal, but missed. Next up for the Vikings is a 1 p.m. game in Newton this Saturday.
