WEST MILFORD — The West Milford Wolverines 11U Baseball Club opened their 2006 Cerbo League Fallball season by arresting the NJ Bandits 10-4 at Munson Field in West Milford NJ. Nick Conlon (Win, 4-IP, 6-K, 1-ER) and Marc Anthony Gonzalez (Save, 3-IP, 5-K, 1-ER) dominated the hill all afternoon. After the NJ Bandits scored a run in the top of the first inning, West Milford exploded for six runs in their opening at bat. Following consecutive walks to Conor Labita, Greg Tompkins and Nick Conlon, Marc Anthony Gonzalez and Steven Sweigart laced RBI base hits. Zane Yuhas, Zach Day, and Dillon Forsythe earned bases loaded walks to push three more runs across the plate. Sam Yuhas took one for the team when he was hit by a pitch, forcing another run in to make the score 6-1. In the third stanza, Tompkins’ leadoff single was followed by a long RBI double by Conlon to extend the Wolverines’ lead to 7-1. Tompkins then put the icing on the cake by hitting a towering three run home run over the leftfield fence to give the home team a 10-4 advantage. The Wolverines 11U will travel to Rockland County NY to face Champion Baseball on Saturday, September 16. On Sunday, September 17, West Milford will host Fairlawn in a twin bill at Munson Field.
