Wolverines 11U continue their winning streak

On Sunday, May 14, the West Milford Wolverines 11U Baseball Club climbed over Somerset Hills 9-3 in their Cerbo Spring League battle for first place at Hillcrest Field in West Milford NJ. Zane Yuhas (Win, 3-IP, 0-R, 1-H), Stephen Cuccio (1-IP, 0-H, 0-R) and Dillon Forsythe (2-IP, 2-K) pitched brilliantly for West Milford. In the home half of the first inning, Greg Tompkins reached on an error and stole 3 bases to give the Wolverines a quick 1-0 lead. After Evan Rapp walked, Nick Conlon smacked a RBI double to left center field to make the score 2-0. In the second frame, Zane Yuhas reached on an error, stole second and third base, finally scoring on a Somerset Hills error to increase the lead to 3-0. In the third stanza, after Tompkins reached on an error and Rapp singled, Cuccio ripped a RBI base hit. Conlon followed by smashing a 2-RBI double off the right centerfield fence to give the Wolverines a 6-0 lead. In the fourth, Yuhas led off by walking. After Conor Labita reached on an error, Steve Sweigart’s sacrifice fly brought home Yuhas to make the score 7-0. Dominic Alheidt followed by reaching base on an error. Greg Tompkins capped the scoring by crushing a long double to deep centerfield, scoring Labita and Alheidt to increase West Milford’s lead to 9-0.
