Wolverines 11U rip Ringwood, then hammer Delaware Valley

    On Tuesday, September 27, the West Milford Wolverines 11U Baseball Club was firing on all cylinders as it ripped through Ringwood 11U 14-7 at Ringwood Little League Field in Ringwood NJ. Ten West Milford players combined for 17 hits off four Ringwood hurlers. The Wolverines jumped right out of the gate in the top of the first inning when Tim Scott doubled in Brett Peters. After Tyler Patalita reached on an error, Nick Conlon, Andrew Clifford, Anthony Olcay and Conor Labita stroked consecutive RBI singles to give the visitors a quick 5-0 lead. In the fourth frame, Conlon’s base hit drove home Scott to extend the lead to 6-1. After Ringwood closed the gap to 6-4, West Milford erupted in the sixth inning. Following Austin Griffiths and Greg Tompkins’ bunt singles, Scott laced a 2-RBI liner to right center. After Patalita followed with a base hit and both runners moved up on a passed ball, Conlon drilled a bases clearing single to center. Clifford then smashed an RBI triple. After Olcay walked, Conor Labita laced a 2-RBI single, then scored on a ground out by Marc Anthony Gonzalez to give the Wolverines a 14-4 lead. Scott (3-H, 3-R, 3-RBI), Conlon (3-H, 2-R, 4-RBI), Cilfford (2-H, 2-R, 2-RBI), Olcay (2-H, 2-R) and Labita (2-H, 3-RBI) provided the offensive firepower for West Milford. On the hill, Clifford (Win, 1-IP, 2-K), Conlon (1-IP, 1-K, 0-R), Scott (1-IP, 2-K, 0-R), Peters (1-IP, 1-K, 0-R), Patalita, Griffiths (1.2-IP, 2-K, 0-R) and John Buechel (1-IP, 2-K, 0-ER) dominated the home team. On Sunday, October 2, the Wolverines hammered Delaware Valley 9-0 in a Cerbo Fall League matchup at Howard Field. Brett Peters (Win, 3-IP, 3-K, 0-R) and Tim Scott (3-IP, 5-K, 0-R) combined to shut down their overmatched guests. In the first inning, Peters singled and moved to second base on a passed ball. After Scott walked, Nick Conlon drilled a RBI single to give West Milford a 1-0 lead. In the second, Steven Sweigart led off with a base hit, moved around to third on wild pitches, then scored on Austin Griffiths’ suicide squeeze bunt. In the third frame, Peters reached base on a fielder’s choice, then was followed by a walk to Scott. Conlon responded by crushing a bases clearing, 2-RBI double. After stealing third base, Conlon was driven home by Anthony Olcay’s RBI single, to give the Wolverines a 5-0 lead. In the fifth, Scott led off with a double, then moved to third on a groundout. Tyler Patalita stroked a RBI base hit to score Scott. After Olcay walked, Steven Sweigart blasted a 2-RBI hit to right field to score Patalita and Olcay. Paul Santiago and Griffiths then smacked back to back singles to put runners on first and third. Erik Tompkins followed with an RBI hit to increase West Milford’s lead to 9-0. West Milford will host Bridgewater American 11U on Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m. at Howard Field.
