Stage and dance groups to run musical theater summer workshop

Franklin Faith Anderson and Heather Hamilton, of The Highland Stage, team up with Danielle Devore of Dream Xtreme Dance, to present a Musical Theater Summer Workshop, for children ages 8-18. The workshop is a challenging and comprehensive program of voice, acting and dance, presented by qualified professionals who work in the industry. Students will be activity engaged in a three week workshop culminating in a showcase performance, highlighting the history of Broadway. The Highland Stage, a non-profit community theater, has built a reputation for outstanding productions with the youth of Sussex County. Their summer Youth Theater Project, in its ninth year, has produced full-scale musicals such as “Grease,” “The Pajama Game”, and last summer’s production of “Thoroughly Modern, Millie.” “We are really excited to be working with Dream Xtreme Dance this summer. It is a spacious facility that gives us a unique opportunity to offer a program of this magnitude,” said Heather Hamilton-Burns, the new producing director of Highland Stage. Dream Xtreme Dance, located on Rt. 23 in Franklin, offers many different classes for ages three to adult. The workshop starts on Monday, July 9, with a showcase performance on July 27. The workshop runs Monday through Thursday from 9-3. Each participant will be dancing, singing and acting every day. The workshop is priced at $450 per student. Reserve a spot by June 30.
