State Democrats hold convention
Some 1,000 members from the state’s Democratic Party traveled to Atlantic City from Sept. 7 to 9 to hear a chorus of Democratic Leaders tout principles and candidates for the November strategy. Locally, the party was represented by County Chair Howard Burrell, Bill and Hilda Weightman of Hardyston, and several other local Democrats, including a couple from the Stanhope region. Party faithful attended seminars on “Getting out the Vote Strategies” , How to Deal with Younger Generations, and other lessons, including marketing and message generation to strengthen the party at local, county, and state levels. Local participants and other state-wide representatives also attended forums chaired by Former Governors Brendan Byrne, and Jim Florio, and current Governor Jon Corzine. Sessions also featured Senator Robert Menendez, Congressmen Pallone and Pascrell.
