Sussex County literacy event

    NEWTON — The Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program Child & Family Resource Services is sponsoring a literacy event to benefit First Book of Sussex County. Ron Zalme, a local illustrator and cartoonist, will be hosting a literacy event on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at An Open Book, located at 169 Spring Street in Newton. Zalme is the illustrator of "What Did Toby See, Where Did Toby Go," "The Cardboard King," and "The Sparkle Queen." Admission for the literacy event is five dollars per family. Refreshments will be provided. An Open Book will also make a donation to First Book Sussex County from the proceeds of store sales during the event.
