Sussex County P.B.A. team up for toy drive

NEWTON — The Sussex County PBA Local No. 138 and Newton police officers Patrolman Steve Van Nieuwland and Lieutenant Mark Zappa delivered $500 worth of gifts to Project Self Sufficiency for their annual Season of Hope Toy Drive. This year, the annual drive gathered 8,920 toys for Sussex County children, according to the Project Self-Sufficiency website. “PBA members are glad to be able to contribute to such a great organization,” said Van Nieuwland, who is also president of PBA Local No. 138. Several Newton Police Officers also volunteered their time to assist Project Self Sufficiency during their toy drive on Dec. 16 and 17. Project Self Sufficiency is a non-profit agency which helps low-income families in the New Jersey counties of Sussex, Morris and Warren to achieve economic self-sufficiency and family stability.
