Sussex County - Sussex County’s leading high school students, who have left their mark in both classrooms and on athletic fields or courts, will be recognized on April 1 by Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc., which operates three ShopRite supermarkets in Sussex County. The 2006 top scholar athlete will be honored with a $2500 scholarship donated by Ronetco. The supermarket chain is also sponsoring Allison Schubert, the Lenape Valley High Regional High School candidate, for top honors. Schubert is ranked ninth in a class of 223 with a grade point average of 3.98. She has been named to “Who’s Who Among American High School Students,” is a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient and is a member of both the National and French Honor Societies. She is also a member in several choirs and is co-captain of her school’s field hockey team. In addition, she has participated in several community events. This is the 21st consecutive year that the supermarket chain has donated the top scholarship and sponsored the Lenape Valley student as part of its business philosophy, “We are partners in caring for our neighbors’ families, homes and communities.” The Sussex County Scholar Athlete Program recognizes one student from each county high school plus Jefferson High School for their accomplishments in academics, athletics and community involvement. The program also raises funds to benefit youth programs through United Way of Sussex County.
