NEWTON — Sussex Elks Lodge #2288 is offering an all-expenses paid outing for WWII veterans to the New Jersey WWII Memorial in Trenton. The all-day trip is planned for Saturday, March 24, and has been named Rolling Honor. The Elks are planning this trip to thank those who served during WWII. The day will begin with a continental breakfast followed by a bus ride to Trenton. The memorial was dedicated in 2008 but many people do not know about it. During the trip, veterans will have the opportunity to see the memorial built in their honor. After lunch, the group will travel to the Battleship New Jersey in Camden for a special tour. There will be a stop for dinner on the way home. If interested in this trip, call Carol Lee Spages at 973-383-0731 or email clspages@earthlink.net. Veterans must be physically fit enough to sustain a full day of travel. Wheelchairs can be accommodated. Space is limited and places will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The Elks serve children with special needs, promote drug awareness, provide support for veterans, grant scholarship money, support youth through sports programs and lead in Americanism activities. For more information about joining the Elks, call Fred Spages at 973-383-0731.
