Sussex Y partners with People Help in food drive
Sussex County - The Sussex County YMCA has partnered with People Help of Sussex County as a food collection site for its food drive. People Help of Sussex County is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, which helps residents of Sussex County in need of one-time financial assistance in emergency situations and who do not qualify for assistance from other agencies. Gail Swain, the organization’s president, predicts a busy time ahead for People Help. “We provide assistance to clients who are normally able to cover their expenses, but find they have an immediate crisis making it difficult to make ends meet,” she said. “The food drive is one way that we can help our friends and neighbors in Sussex County through the tough times ahead, and we are very glad to have the Sussex County YMCA as a partner and collection site.” Sussex County YMCA Senior Program Director Joanne Browne said, “Knowing that the food we collect will go to people right here in Sussex County and help them through the tough times ahead, is the main reason why we are working with People Help. We urge our members, as well as civic and school groups and individuals to join in and help with donations. It will really make a difference in someone’s life.” Donations of non-perishable food items as well as toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant etc) can be dropped off at any time at the Sussex County YMCA at 15 Wits End Road in Hamburg. Tax deductible donations can also be made directly to People Help of Sussex County, P.O Box 202, Sparta NJ 07871. For more information, call 973 729-1745 for more information.
