Technology training open to county residents
Sparta -The Sussex County Educational Technology Training Center is offering summer computer workshops to Sussex County residents. The center offers more than 300 different workshops for educators, business and non-profit organizations. For the first time, all county residents are invited to explore different aspects of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and learn how these and other programs can be of help at home or at work. Anyone who is thinking about changing jobs, or is a member of a senior group interested in writing their memoirs or researching their heritage, or anyone who just wants to be more proficient on the computer can benefit from this series of workshops. Parents who want to keep up with their computer-savvy children will find these workshops enlightening and helpful. Nine Microsoft Office classes will be offered: three modules each for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing program that contains tools for creating and sharing documents. Excel allows users to create spreadsheets and track finances. PowerPoint is a presentation software program used both in business and education. Each topic starts with the basics and builds skills with each successive module. A person can take all or just one module. Each module runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Enrollment in any of the center’s workshops is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. Cost is $25 per module. For information, call 973-383-6700, ext. 503. The center is located on the campus of Sussex County Technical School in Sparta. The lab is available for customized training as well as regularly scheduled workshops. Organizations interested in customized workshops may call 973-383-6700, ext 216.
