Tomato Taste

The star of the show was a vegetable. Crowds came to Olde Lafayette Village on Sunday to meet - and eat - one of the state’s most famous celebrities: the Jersey Tomato. It was all part of Tomato Tasting Sunday, in which the famous Jersey veggie (It’s actually a fruit, but a Jersey Tomato by any other name would still soak your chin with delicious juices.) shared center stage with unusual heirloom tomatoes and other varieties of the mainstay of backyard gardens. Visitors were entertained by a singing chef, Bill Harris, live music, and Catalpa Ridge Farm’s “Produce Pete.” Also on display - and for sale - was a wide selection of produce ranging from cheese to peaches from Jersey farms.
