    Oct. 15 At 2:22 am., the Byram Twp. Police Department received a call from two volunteer members of the Byram Twp.Fire Dept. that there was a suspicious person at the vending machine outside the Byram Twp. Fire Dept. on Rt. 206 and the person was holding a pry bar type tool. When the man was approached by the two firemen, he left in a vehicle traveling South on Rt. 206. A description of the vehicle was given and a motor vehicle stop was initiated with the vehicle by Byram Twp. patrols on Rt. 206 S. After speaking to the driver, Brian T. Labar of East Stroudsburg, PA and his passenger, it was determined that they were giving conflicting stories, Labar originally gave patrols a false name and had no credentials on his person. Patrols also observed several types of tools in the vehicle and large amounts of cash and coins. Further investigation revealed that the driver had broken into one vending machine in Andover Twp. as well as several in Byram Twp. Labar was arrested and transported to Byram Twp. P.D. for processing. At the station, Labar’s true identity was revealed and he was charged with the following. Criminal Mischief, Providing False Information, Possession of Burglar Tools, and Receiving Stolen Property. Labar was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail until his Byram Twp. Municipal Court date. Labar’s Information was also turned over to Andover Twp. P.D. due to offenses that occurred In Andover Twp. Labar was later served with the charge of Theft while he was lodged in the Sussex County Jail. Oct. 19 At 5:26 a.m., The Byram Twp. Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Andover-Mohawk Road. When the officer arrived, he spoke to Barry Bonkoski of Byram Twp. who stated that he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and the vehicle drove into an embankment. While speaking to Bonkoski, the officer noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Bonkoski was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Bonkoski was arrested and transported to Byram Twp. Police Dept. for processing. At the station, Bonkoski failed two breath tests. He was charged with DWI and Careless Driving. Bonkoski was released to a family member pending a Byram Twp. Municipal Court date. His vehicle was impounded for 12 hours as required by state law. Oct. 24 At 11 p.m., a Byram Twp. Police Officer was operating radar on Rt, 206 and observed a 1996 4-door brown Saab traveling South on Rt. 206 at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop and spoke to the driver, Edward Waterfall of Roslindale, MA. While speaking to the driver, the officer observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Waterfall was then asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Waterfall was arrested and transported to the station for processing. At the station, Waterfall failed two breath tests. Waterfall was charged with the following and released pending a Byram Twp. Municipal Court date: DWI and Speeding. Waterfall’s vehicle was impounded for 12 hours as required by state law.
