Troop 1070 recognized by Army platoon

GREEN Girl Scout Troop 1070 of Green Township was presented with an American flag from US Army Sgt. Victor Alves for their dedication to his platoon. Troop 1070 "adopted" Alves' platoon during their deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. The troop shipped Girl Scout Cookies, magazines and other items to Alves and his platoon of 35 soldiers. In addition, all Girl Scouts of Green Township had mailed cards and pictures thanking the soldiers for their service and wishing them a safe return.
