Truck or Treat

BYRAM — On Monday, Oct. 31, Byram was hosting a Trunk or Treat at the Byram Schools due to the power outage in the town. The event was organized to make trick-or-treating safer for the Byram community. The Trunk or Treat was set to start for 6 p.m., so Byram Fire Department members Adam Soccio, Donny Doland, Todd Ruddloff and Paul Wendling took it upon themselves to bring one of the department's trucks to the event. Members purchased candy and took the rescue truck over to the Byram Schools to distribute the candy and partake in the festivities. The idea started with Todd Rudloff, who made a point that members should throw all the lights on and help make the Trunk or Treat a fun event for all the parents and kids. "After running a long weekend of fire calls it felt great to be able to give back to the community and show our thanks to them for supporting us," said Soccio. "We feel the need to interact with our town because you never know when you could be seeing a fire truck, whether emergency or non. Not only does it create bonding for members of the department it allows the town and the families to recognize what we do for them." "It's such a great way to give back to the people of the town," said Doland.
