United Methodist to host workshop on non-violence
Sparta - The Sparta United Methodist church is offering a workshop on non-violence in the words and work of Jesus Christ, led by Pastor Charlie Mcneil. Mcneil recalled Ghandi’s remark that Jesus was the most non-violent person in history, and only Christians didn’t realize it. “In this workshop we will see that the non-violence of Jesus was far from being passive,” Mcneil said. “Christ’s peace is active, intentional and potentially dangerous, requiring a significant degree of courage.” The workshop will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on three consecutive Monday evenings beginning July 31. Register at the church office, at 71 Sparta Ave., to ensure sufficient materials are provided. For more information, call (973)729-7773 or visit www.Spartaumc.org.
