William Curcio named chair of Walk to Cure Diabetes

Newton -The Northern New Jersey & Rockland County Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International announced that William P. Curcio, executive vice president of Eastern Propane, has agreed to partner with families and friends of those living with juvenile diabetes by serving as the 2006 corporate chair for the Sussex County Walk to Cure Diabetes. This year’s event is schedule for Sunday, Oct. 1 at Sussex County Community College. “It’s great to be working together with JDRF on such an important goal - curing a disease which affects 10,000 people living in our community and which cost our nation more than $130 billion last year in health care costs,” stated Curcio. “That’s why we are committed to raising money for cutting-edge research. By working together, we can make a difference.” Curcio, a long time Sussex County resident, is past chairman of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Sussex County United Way and the New Jersey Propane Gas Association. He is the chairman of the New Jersey Liquefied Petroleum Gas Education and Safety Board and co-chair of the Chamber’s Transportation Integration Effort. Curcio has been the recipient of the United Way’s Victor Grohmann Award and the New Jersey Propane Gas Association’s Howard Card Award for outstanding service to the propane community. Marion and Bill Curcio reside in Sparta and have two grown children. Activities for this year’s Walk to Cure Diabetes will be kicked off on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Lake Mohawk Country Club. Past team captains and new individuals interested in learning more about the Walk to Cure Diabetes or JDRF are invited to attend this luncheon.
