Byram - Byram students planned for the future while at the same time celebrated the past with a special event held on Arbor day, April 28. The fourth grade students, helped by their teacher Kerri Benson, planted a white dogwood tree outside the Byram Lakes School. The tree, which is the state’s official memorial tree, will be the centerpiece of a student-design garden to commemorate Byram’s history. “Arbor Day is very important because it helps keep the world alive,” said 10-year-old Billy, after the ceremony. The 19 students, members of the Gifted and Talented class, will continue working on the site to incorporate elements depicting important events in the history of the township.
