Had enough of letters on ATV rift

To the Editor: Over the last few weeks, I feel that the Viewpoints page in your paper has become the “Costanza” page. It clearly states in your instructions that letters to the editor by the same author should not be printed more than once every six months and, for that matter, that these letters may be edited for good taste. It seems Byram has its own version of the Hatfields and McCoys! The whole situation is silly. People ride their ATVs behind my land all the time and not once has that provoked me to file a complaint. That said, I take offense to the assassination of Daven Baez and the Lake Lackawanna Investment Corporation. Baez is a responsible father, a hard worker, Den Leader for my son’s Boy Scout pack, and a competent, valued member of the LLIC and other organizations. He donates his time when it is needed and always has a smile on his face. He is not some hick disrupting the neighborhood. It seems he is just trying to have some fun on the weekends and just happens to live next to bored neighbors with an agenda. Regarding non-payment of lake dues, I think it is disgraceful that any resident (not just the Costanzas) who lives within a stone’s throw of Lake Lackawanna — who can see it from their windows — elects not to pay dues. Keeping a lovely, lake community requires money: to maintain the water, grounds, clubhouse, swim team, fund social events, etc. This money does not grow on trees. Rather, it comes out of the pockets of the residents who contribute, the same people who make this town a magical place to live. Maybe the Township Journal should interview the LLIC. But I guess maintaining this “Township of Lakes” would not be as newsworthy as the revving engine of an ATV. I hope this ATV matter is over. Who knows, maybe next week we’ll read about all the Lake Drive residents filing a noise complaint against the Costanzas for barking dogs. Christina Honthy Byram
