Forever in service to our community

To the Editor:

The events that have unfolded over this past year have dramatically impacted the world, our community, our families and our YMCA. We couldn’t have imagined how much things would change and how important our Y’s work would be to our community. But the Y has always found ways to serve in times of crisis — and today is no exception.

As the devastating effects of COVID-19 swept across the country and threatened the strength of our community, we quickly mobilized to:

● Keep seniors who are vulnerable to isolation connected to the Y through 500 check-in calls and 36 Coffee Clubs

● Secure 107 pints of blood to help approximately 552 patients

● Award $90,404 in financial assistance to 253 recipients

● Create and share over 100 health and wellness videos Give 89 kids a summer camp experience

● Provide school age child care and remote learning assistance to 79 kids

This work is the lifeblood of our mission, but the essential services we’ve been providing to our community come at a cost and, unfortunately, we’ve suffered significant economic loss and setbacks due to suspending operations and delivering limited programming. We simply cannot do this critical work alone – we need your help. Please make a tax-deductible donation today at metroymcas.org/scygive and help create a stronger community for all. The Y. Forever in service. For a better us.
