Regarding “Schadenfreude,” your recently published sonnet by George Kibildis and the Speck critique ...

    1. Regarding Ms. Speck’s well-meaning but incorrect attempt to pre-qualify schadenfreude’s victim with “deserved,” not so, according to the Oxford Dictionary, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary or Wikipedia, which cites that this ugly emotional response with the borrowed German name is becoming more studied as it makes itself evident in younger and younger children.

    2. In a time that screams for the broadening and redeeming everyday grace of art, we Sussex County-ites are ahead of the game! George Kibildis is a local! This well-seasoned and well-traveled poet, who once upon a time was a schoolteacher, uses the traditional Elizabethan sonnet format to use mere words to add the gifts of spice, wit and challenge to our daily intake.
