Supports climate act
All scientific facts and those in denial about the cause of global warming aside, as a farmer's daughter, I learned one simple fact. Food crop success depends upon stable climatic conditions. As you're all keenly aware, winter 2011-2012 is a winter such as we've never experienced here before. I'm very concerned about the climate crisis. The Citizens Climate Change Lobby states,"The International Energy Agency warned last year that we have only five years to start reducing greenhouse gas emissions before the world's economies will have locked themselves into an insecure, inefficient and high-carbon energy system. That means global warming will spiral out of control. (Their lobby)... uses a market approach, not regulations, to ease the transition of our economy from fossil-fuel dependence to a clean-energy base. It places a gradually rising fee on the carbon that enters our economy in fuels and rebates the proceeds directly to all citizens." I urge you to sign a letter of support for the Save Our Climate Act HR3242, which will help to restore a life-sustaining climate. You can do this online by contacting Ellie at ewhitney@comcast.net, a member of the Citizens Climate Change Lobby. Although at last notice, both Scott Garrett 973-300-2000 and Rodney Frelinghuysen 973-984-0711 remain among those in denial about the cause of global warming, I think it would be useful to contact them and ask them to support this bill. As I understand it, Mr. Garrett may have some serious competition for his spot in the House in the upcoming election, so he may be willing to consider an openness toward change. For a sustainable Earth, Marilyn Chapman Sparta
