No littering, please

To the Editor: We would like to save the environment and put a stop to littering around the world. So please remember to leave no trace. Leave the area clean. Pick up garbage that may have been left by others. Leave no sign that you have been there. Do not leave anything that animals and humans can get hurt on, such as soda cans, paper, water bottles, glass bottles, trash bags, etc. Every time we go to C.O. Johnson Field there is litter everywhere. People should pick up after themselves. We pick up the garbage every time we go. I do not think we should have to pick up other humans’ trash. Maybe it would help if they put more trash cans at C.O. Johnson Field. “Don’t take anything, don’t leave anything, bring memories.” What this means is don’t take things from the environment, don’t leave litter and just bring memories of what it should look like. Every time you take from the woods, an animal is losing a home. Everything that goes into the water hurts the animals and plants in all ponds, rivers, oceans and lakes. Do not leave hooks, line, weights, oil, gun powder, etc. Car owners who live near any kind of water source or on a hill, please make sure that gasoline or oil doesn’t get into the water and into the soil. Oil and gasoline can cause fires like the recent forest fires in California. Stop throwing lit cigarettes out of cars or throwing them and the packages they came in on the ground. Lighting cigarettes can cause fires. Sandra Behul, age 16 Andover
