Open House at Sussex County Tech School offers information on its programs
As many are aware, the Sussex County Technical School is a public school serving grades 9 through 12 and is available to all Sussex County high school students. Last year, we had over 486 applicants apply. This school year, our enrollment is the highest it has been in 12 years, and all signs indicate an increase for the 2012-13 school year. To date, the district has received approximately 176 online applications for our first review session for the next school year. A special and heartfelt thank you to all of the sending districts that have permitted our counselors, administrators and student representatives to visit their eighth-grade students. Thanks to these recruitment visits, students are provided with the important information needed in order to make an informed decision as to where they will attend high school. Our students consciously choose to attend Sussex County Technical School. Our graduates must complete training and certifications in one career area and are well prepared for college, university, technical school or workforce entrance. Many of Sussex County Technical School’s students participate in quality internships and even receive employment offers prior to graduation. Parents and students have several ways to gather information about our district. During November each year we have a Tech Trek Day. Students from grades six, seven and eight may attend this annual event with their parents to visit the various career and academic programs and participate in special projects designed as a preview of the technical areas. Prior registration is required. A more general Open House is usually scheduled every January. This year’s takes place at 7 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2012. Please feel free to attend, ask questions and obtain information. All parents and guardians of Sussex County eighth-graders are also invited to visit the Sussex County Technical School Web site at www.sussex.tec.nj.us. There you will find links to information about all aspects of our district and may also begin the online application for the admissions process. Anthony J. Macerino Interim Superintendent/Principal
