Penalties not necessary

To the Editor:   The Lenape Valley Junior Patriots is a wonderful group - great coaches, great program- great volunteers and parents.  Why the Junior Patriots feel that they should penalize the parents for not signing up their children five months in advance is beyond me.  This year registration for tackle is $89 per child only if you register on March 31, then the fee increases steadily until final sign up deadline.  As a parent of two active kids we have just paid out hundreds of dollars for Baseball and Track, and now are being forced, by the nature of the way the payments have been arranged, to lay out almost $200 for a sport that does not start until the beginning of August.  I completely understand the need for early registrations - you need planning time for uniforms and coaches - however when is early just too early?  Next year will the date be in January? Will I continue to be “penalized” if I do not register months and months in advance? Thank you, Sharon Anderson
