Thanks to all that helped

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the men and women of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office as well as the many First Responders who assisted our county residents during Hurricane Irene and the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee. I would like to thank my Deputy Emergency Management Coordinators Cpt. George Kately and Officer Mark Vogel for their hard work and sleepless nights. It is not a comfortable feeling to leave your family at home during a major storm to respond out and assist others in need. When duty called all of our First Responders did not hesitate to come out and assist their fellow County residents. The Sheriff’s Officers, Dispatchers, Firefighters, First Aid Squad members, County C.E.R.T. team members, Red Cross Volunteers, and Department of Public Works personnel all did a terrific job. As the Sussex County Emergency Management Coordinator I could not be happier with all of the Personnel who came out to assist our County Residents. I would also like to thank all the Municipal Emergency Management Coordinators who we worked hand in hand with leading up to the storms and during these two storms. A great deal of planning and coordination goes into Emergency Management not only at the state level but the county and municipal level as well. This was a joint effort amongst a variety of organizations. It truly shows that prior planning, coordination, and hard work pays off. Again thank you to all the Emergency Responders for your continued commitment to the residents of Sussex County you should all be proud. Sheriff Michael F.
