To the Editor: The staff and volunteers of the Center for Prevention and Counseling thank the many businesses and community organizations in Sussex County that are helping us with our “Doves for Dreams” fundraiser.  Handmade ceramic dove ornaments are being sold in various establishments throughout Sussex County for $10 each (please see list below). As Barbara Adolphe, executive director of the center, said, “The dove is CFPC’s symbol and represents peace. These beautiful ornaments are reminders of the peace and love that children should feel every day.” The establishments that are helping with “Doves for Dreams” play a vital part in helping us raise money for one of our programs, the Center for Youth.  The Center for Youth is an after-school program, offered at no charge and open to third-, fourth-, or fifth-grade students in Sussex County. Caring mentor relationships, provided by trained high school volunteers (trained by Big Brothers Big Sisters) and Center for Prevention and Counseling staff, offer a creative, interactive and supportive environment for students during the after school hours. The Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton is a non-profit agency that serves residents in Sussex County by responding to their needs with a variety of programs focused on substance abuse prevention and counseling.  The center depends on donations and fundraisers to keep it financially viable and capable of serving the thousands of children, adults and families that seek its services every day. Thank you to the following businesses that are participating in “Doves for Dreams:” Century 21 Gross & Jansen offices in Branchville, Vernon, Sparta, and Andover; Condit Toyota & Ford in Newton; Food Barn in Sussex; Grano Chiropractic offices in Newton and Hamburg; In A Briz’s Party Plus in Newton; Little Professor in Byram; Shear Happiness in Branchville; STOP Program in the Frankford Schools; Tea Hive in Newton, Total Image in Branchville; and Vivian’s in Newton. “Dreams can come true…A child’s healthy future starts with you!” Pam Melyan-Bratton Youth educator And the staff and volunteers Center for Prevention and Counseling Newton
