Thanks to Kittatinny community
Due to recent power outages in our region, Kittatinny Regional High School extended an invitation of hospitality to people in need throughout the community by opening up locker room facilities for showering purposes and also offered a hot meal. Within an hour of this idea, coming forth from our Crisis Management Team, donations were received. A big thank you to the following clubs, activities, local municipalities, and local businesses. This would not have been possible without your generosity. Including Kittatinny's own Cougar Club, Football Team, Marching Band, Wrestling Team, Student Council, Yna Said Fund, Kittatinny Education Association, and Administrative Team. Within 24 hours, additional donations were made by the Township of Fredon and other local municipalities, Shop-Rite of Newton, Weis of Newton, Walmart of Hampton, and Dominick's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria of Newton. Enough water was donated for drinking as well as reserves for home use. Sufficient funds were donated in order to provide a hot meal during the two evenings that the school was open. The delicious meal was made available due to a major contribution from Dominick's Italian Pizzeria and Restaurant of Newton. Dominick's not only matched our contributions, but also donated plates, serviceware and cans of Sterno to keep the food hot. It was nice to see the collaborative efforts of the school, community and local businesses working together for the good of the people. In-house administrators, faculty, staff, students, maintenance and janitorial staff also donated their own time to provide a safe, warm and supportive environment for those in need. Approximately 170 very appreciative community members took advantage of this wonderful hospitality. A thank you goes out as well to the New Jersey Herald and WSUS Radio for helping to get the word out, not only to the Kittatinny Community, but also to the Sussex County community. Thanks again to everyone involved. Kittatinny works to service its students and its community. Craig M. Hutcheson Superintendent, Kittatinny School District
