Thanks to the bikers
To the Editor: Rainy weather, winter, and motorcycles don’t usually go together - except when it is New Year’s Day in Sussex County and the event is the Dale’s Chilly Chili Run to benefit the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice. We want to thank the many motorcyclists, clubs, and friends who came to the Ogdensburg Firehouse to participate in this annual event. There were over 100 bikers there - most of whom rode in the 30 mile ride through the County, led by the Blue Knights Chapter IX, the Sussex County Sheriffs Department, and supported by the Ogdensburg First Aide Squad, Ogdensburg, Sparta, Jefferson, West Milford, Franklin and Hardyston Police Departments. When they returned they feasted on Chili prepared by the outstanding chefs of the Ogdensburg Fire Department. To top off the day the drawing for the Friends of Hospice Harley Davidson Motorcycle was done - and congratulations go to Dan McCole of Milford PA who had the winning ticket. This event has been supporting the programs of the Hospice for over 20 years. The funds raised through the dedication of the participants have helped provide additional services to those who are in need. Our heartfelt thanks go to the members of Ogdensburg Fire Department, the Rescue Squad, the Auxiliary, members of the Borough Council, Mayor Jacqueline Pietrodangelo, Mayor Elect James Sekelsky, Nick Irons, Jeff Hunker, and of course, to all those who participated in the day and in the raffle. Also, to Niki Morville-Brand, Skylands Weekly, for their coverage, and the NJ Herald for their pre and post coverage of the event! The energy that is evident by the organizers, motorcycle clubs and local motorcycle enthusiasts is a wonderful day to start the New Year!!
