WalMart helps literacy volunteers in county
To the Editor: Of course everyone knows WalMart. But not everyone knows what WalMart does on behalf of literacy. For several years, Literacy Volunteers of Sussex County (LVSC) has received contributions from both the Newton and the Franklin WalMarts. These funds have helped us to increase the number of students we serve, by expanding our training of tutors. We realize that WalMart’s program of Community Support is designed to assist many different forms of community service. We are grateful for WalMart’s recognition of the county’s vital need for improved literacy, and for their helping us to meet that need. LVSC provides free, confidential tutoring in English for adults, one-on-one, customized to the present skills and goals of each student. Anyone interested in volunteering, or anyone who wants to be tutored, should call us at 973-300-9444, or go to our Web site, www.literacyforyou.org. Our thanks to WalMart for helping us do our job.
