Charles D. “Chuck” Merz, Jr., age 61, passed away at Newton Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026. Born in Hackensack, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles D. Merz, Sr. and Barbara Jean (Seely) Merz.
Chuck grew up in Teaneck, N.J., where he worked for the Teaneck Township Department of Public Works for more than 25 years. He served as an Assistant Supervisor in the Parks Department until his retirement in 2012.
In 2007, Chuck moved to Sandyston Township, where he lived with his longtime partner and fiancée, Josephine Falcicchio.
Chuck enjoyed racing and spending time building and working on mud buggies. He also had a strong attachment to his dogs and took great care of them throughout his life.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles D. Merz Sr. and Barbara Jean (Seely) Merz.
Chuck is survived by his fiancée, Josephine Falcicchio, and his daughter, Jenna Merz.
