Dennis Branch Library to close for yearlong renovation project
The Sussex County Library System’s Dennis Branch will close to the public at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, as work begins on a $4.165 million renovation project.
The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners recently awarded the construction contract to Westcraft Builders Inc., officially moving the project into the construction phase. Renovations are expected to take about 12 months.
The project is funded through a grant from the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act, administered by the New Jersey State Library, with matching funds from Sussex County.
The branch’s exterior book drop will remain open through July 22 while staff prepare the building for construction. Patrons with holds at the Dennis Branch will be contacted to arrange pickup at another Sussex County Library System location.
Beginning July 13, the Dot Mobile Library will provide service at 15 Trinity St., Newton, on Mondays from 2 to 5 p.m., Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
”We’re excited to begin this next chapter for the Dennis Branch,” Library Director Will Porter said. “We look forward to welcoming everyone back to a refreshed library that will better serve the community for years to come.”
