Project Self-Sufficiency to host Baby Beginnings Fair
Newton. Project Self-Sufficiency will host a Baby Beginnings Fair Aug. 27 to provide expectant parents and families with young children information, resources and free baby items.
Expectant parents and families with young children are invited to attend a Baby Beginnings Fair hosted by Project Self-Sufficiency at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.
The event will provide information and resources to help families prepare for a child’s first year. Representatives from the Child Mind Institute will discuss the importance of self-care during pregnancy and after the arrival of a new baby.
Attendees can also learn about free and reduced-cost family activities, early childhood health and development, positive parenting techniques and other resources.
Lunch will be provided, along with free baby items, prizes and giveaways.
Representatives from SNAP-Ed, the Sussex County Library and Zufall Health will also participate.
The event is part of Family Connects NJ, which complements Project Self-Sufficiency programs for pregnant women and parents of young children, including home visitation programs, monthly Mommy Parties and Parent Cafes.
”Accurate information about early childhood and development is crucial for the success of new parents,” said Deborah Berry-Toon, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency. “The Family Connects NJ Baby Beginnings Fairs allow pregnant women and new parents to engage with area experts and meet others in similar circumstances.”
