Marjanne Smith of Newton, N.J., passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for hospice Fredon Township, N.J. She was 60.

Born in Babylon, Long Island, she grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived most of her life in Stillwater Township, N.J., before moving to Newton.

Marjanne was a graduate of Kittatinny High School, Class of 1979. She was a talented artist and enjoyed crafts and challenging projects of any kind. Marjanne loved doing yardwork and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and enjoying good times and barbecues.

Ms. Smith had a long career as an operating room technician with Eye Physicians of Sussex County.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence M. Smith Jr., in 2019.

Survivors include her parents, Joanne and Michael Candeloro Sr.; daughter, Justina and her husband, Jason Hompesch, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; daughter, Melissa Graziano of Newton; stepchildren, Janet and Gregg Rickert of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Michael and Laura Smith of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Jennifer Smith of Hanover, Pa. Also surviving are her grandchildren Emma and Olivia Hompesch; along with step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She also has as her sisters Michelle LaStarza of Wantage Township, N.J., and Lyn Pulumbo of Raleigh, N.C.; and her brothers, John Graziano of Sussex, N.J., and Michael and his wife, Patty Candeloro, of Sparta, N.J.

Memorial visitation will be held Sunday April 11, from 1-3 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, #156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton.
